For those who currently aren’t in the know,  The Blood Moon Howlers are a Psychedelic, Neo-Noir Blues and Rock band currently based out of Los Angeles, CA. The band was formed in 2017 and features both male and female vocals, groovy guitar lines, unique drum beats, and percussion that’ll leave you mesmerized. Their music is spreading like wildfire at the moment, as recently as being featured as the Artist Spotlight on SoCal’s 88.5 FM for multiple weeks in a row, which then lead them to being the featured band on the AUX RTN Podcast affiliated with 88.5 FM.

Listening to the track for the first time was immediately like being transported through time and space to an alternate reality. It was instantly astounding at how quickly a band’s sound could make you feel like you’d switched decades. Our first impressions of the song were truly how amazing it was from start to finish, but also poised the question, “Where has this band been all our lives”? As fans of the all genres they list themselves as, our expectations were quite high, but after only one listen, they were quickly surpassed.

Prior the review, the band gave us a quick rundown on the origins and stories behind the track.
“At The Barrel 33 (Mess Around)” is a sex positive song telling the tantalizing tale of a woman with many lovers talking about role-play, ruby red lipstick, scarlet silk, pearls and no walk of shame here, posing the question “Aren’t we just here to mess around?” So we highly recommend taking that into consideration before your first listen, but also to organically let the song consume you in the feelings and atmosphere it gives off.

Now we don’t want to give too much away, because we’d so much prefer you listen for yourselves, but The Blood Moon Howlers are certainly the real deal. The bass heavy production, slick jazz drumming, and seductive vocals; they check all our boxes for a blossoming act. We had no choice but to dig into their discography after multiple listens of this newest single, and to no surprise, it’s all just as good. So once you finish up with your initial listen, move onto the rest of it, you won’t be disappointed.

What else can we say at this point? As Los Angeles locals ourselves, we’ll be making it a point to attend any and all shows they put on at a future time. We can now consider ourselves superfans and will happily be following on for years to come. So with that being said, stop reading, and start listening!
