Perfect for the hot weather months and beyond, tdotostudios has just delivered a genuinely uplifting new single titled “AFUA”. Please keep reading for a closer look at the song, as well as a much needed background on this talented artist.

From the mind of Theo Davis comes his personal musical project that he’s titled tdotostudios. While he works as a medical doctor by day in the United Kingdom, he’s taken his immense skills as a multi-instrumentalist and producer to create these instrumental works that are downright catchy on the first listen. This newest track is called “AFUA” and it’s filled with country-spanning inspirations and a whole lot of grooves and rhythms. We’re recommending everyone to give it a play as soon as possible.

On the background of the song, the name “AFUA” is actually inspired by “a female Ghanaian name meaning ‘born on Friday’”. As Theo is of Ghanaian descent, he felt the urge to highlight his heritage and the African Diaspora, therefore crafting this song to “encapsulate the beauty of women from the African Diaspora without the need for song lyrics”. In our eyes that’s a truly beautiful sentiment because not only did the song come out perfectly, but it also gives listeners an opportunity to discover new sounds, styles, and learn a thing or two as well.

When it comes to purely instrumental music though, we tend to “judge” a little bit harder, mainly because it’s so difficult to capture a listener’s attention without the usage of vocals or lyrics. In this case though, Theo’s single had us gripped in the first 30 seconds and made us feel like we were laying on the sand beachside. There’s certainly an island feel and aspect to the song given the diverse usage of instruments that were used, but it also evoked a serious wave of calm and relaxation, something we desperately needed. While it comes in at right around three minutes even, we easily could’ve listened for double the time, and are now hoping that he’s got more on the way in a similar vein of sound. It appears as though this is one of tdotostudio’s first official releases, so here’s to hoping we get more soon.

While we patiently wait, please go ahead and check out the links below to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for much more. Enjoy!
