Spanning decades worth of genres, Taylor Xo has truly outdone himself on his all new EP, The Last Heartbreak. We are loving it! Please read on for a closer look into the record, in addition to a background on this talented artist.

Just released on November 9th, 2022, the Billboard-charting and immensely talented singer and songwriter known as Taylor Xo has come forth with a rock-centric EP, The Last Heartbreak. Blurring the lines between the best parts of the 80’s, 90’s, and plenty of touches of modern rock as well, his newest musical offering is a diverse range of styles. Effortlessly though, it’s 100% got that signature essence of his past releases, but in a way that looks towards the future. Plain and simple, it’s wonderful, and we can’t wait for everyone to give it a spin.

On the background of it all, The Last Heartbreak takes the listeners through “the many stages of a heartbreak, from denial, remorse, mourning, through bouts of confusion, flare ups of anger and bottled up aggression, to the final stages of acceptance and the various shades it comes in”. Chances are if you’ve experienced a breakup in any capacity, you’re going to find this album to be unbelievably relatable. Honestly, our standout moments were certainly the passages that were catchy and innovative, but also the way that Taylor manages to seamlessly paint a picture in your mind. Production aside, his strengths as an imagery-filled songwriter come forth as a highlight and a reason to come back, mainly in order to connect the dots through more of the cryptic songs.

Now with that being said, the attention to detail in terms of cohesiveness and tone setting were a step above. Specific tracks like “New York” or the closer “Honest” do an amazing job of turning this into a concept record. What we mean by that is that the words and emotions through the storylines actually link up to the moods and auras of the music. There’s no juxtaposition, rather a direct correlation between the personal experiences and the sound, something super rare nowadays. Through six songs that span right around the twenty minute mark, The Last Heartbreak is complete, well rounded, and a sonic exploration through everything Taylor Xo has shared thus far.
