Fresh off the release of his third full length album, Dvlpmnt, we got the special opportunity to sit and speak with Strat to get a much needed behind the scenes look on the record. Check out our full interview below!

Currently based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Strat is setting goals and surpassing them when it comes to out of the box music creation. Always keeping things personal and exhibiting experiences through song, his latest release Dvlpmnt is a masterclass in lyricism and expert storytelling. As mentioned, we had the chance to sit and speak with the man behind the music, which ultimately led to a rich conversation covering so many fantastic topics on his past, present, and so much more planned for the future.

Coming in at 14 tracks, spanning just a bit under an hour, Strat has left nothing to the imagination in the sense that he’s laid it all out on the table for listeners everywhere to decipher and connect the dots. Considering he’s been making music for quite some time now, there was never a doubt in our minds that he’d evolved his sound, but after listening to the rest of his discography, that hope became true. Roootz and Conception II were sensational listens, and Strat even gave a minor background on those albums, but with the help of a star studded team on the production end, they’ve helped to take him to the next level.

Of course we definitely had specific standout tracks such as “Pin Out”, “Novaflex”, and “Jewel of the Nile”, but what makes Dvlpmnt so special is its cohesiveness from start to finish. He certainly spans the genre in sound and style, featuring some revolutionary production effects, but from beginning to end there’s a signature feeling that you can’t escape. It’s what makes this album so special is not only is it meaningful to the artist, but any listener tuning into Strat for the first time gets the chance to learn about a person who would otherwise be a stranger. If you enjoy your listen, which we confidently think you will, do yourselves a favor and please check out the rest of his music, as well as our interview.
