SpenDoe engineers an instant summer classic with "Foreign To Me"
Back with his first new release of the year, SpenDoe is back in a big way on his newest single, “Foreign To Me”. Read on for our full and in-depth review of the track, in addition to a background on the artist.
Following up his latest EP, Servin, SpenDoe has just put forward an instrumentally diverse new single, titled “Foreign To Me”. Currently based out of California, he’s making waves within the scene with each subsequent single release. Though he didn’t have it easy growing up in the slightest, his passions and efforts have been full force towards his music.
As well as putting out solo albums and singles of his own, he’s incredibly lucky to have collaborated with other up and comers such as Krazy (504 Boyz), Young Bleed, DJ ULTIM8M, and so many more notable names. Considering he’s been involved in music from such a young age, it’s honestly no surprise his growing catalog is as impressive as it is. We’re not definitively saying that “Foreign To Me” is his best, however, it can certainly be considered a highlight from the artist so far.
For the casual Hip Hop lover, or even someone who’s just dipping their toes in the genre, this is the perfect jumping off point. Featuring an intoxicating opening with picking acoustic guitars that are almost reminiscent of harpsichords, we were instantly glued to the sound he’s created. Including a bumping bass (nice headphones required), a stellar production, and ruminating synthesizers spliced throughout, we can confidently say that we were fans based off our first listen.
While the song was just released today on April 9th, 2021, we’ve had access for a little bit now. Since our first listen, it’s been on constant rotation here at We Write About Music. What we found and heard on it that we loved the most was the overall complexities in which it holds. For one, it’s mostly a lighthearted single in sound, and as the weather starts to warm up here in California, it’s definitely going to be a repeat listen on our playlists.
Our clear recommendation here would be that if you happen to be reading this on release day, that means it’s officially the weekend. Kick off your Friday (or any day) with multiple streams of a song that you’re bound to love. Flawless flows, inventive beats, and that signature touch that’s sure to bring you back for more. Enjoy!
