Debuting her wonderful and faithful cover of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” is none other than Simone Eversdijk. Read along with us for our full review of the track, in addition to a bit of background on the artist herself!
Avicii's hit single “Wake Me Up” was given an amazing rework by the artist. The artist delivers her silky voice clear and resilient, treating audiences to every trembling catch and inflection as she pours out a heartfelt declaration of a song, drenched in Romantic keys and synthesized strings, and lifted to soaring heights for a grand, yet highly personal listen. If the original was an optimistic anthem, Eversdijk's take is a battle cry, soulful, thoughtful, and resoundingly sincere.
For Simone, this is a song that gave her deep meaning and became a personal anthem. While we love the original version, there is seriously something special about the way that the artist delivers the same lyrics. It’s even more thoughtful, and without the “party” aspect to it, it makes the listener a bit more introspective to the lyrics and the meaning behind it all.
In addition to this lovely cover, Simone also creates music of her own that is absolutely worth checking out. If you love this song as much as we do, which you definitely will, we highly recommend taking the time out of your busy lives and diving on in. Ever since the artist got in contact with us, we’ve done nothing but listen to her past discography.
While Simone is based out of the Netherlands, it’s quickly becoming a dream of ours to maybe someday witness her greatness in person. Hopefully in the near future as music like this deserves to be heard in a live setting. We can only imagine her voice is even more beautiful in person!
