Immersing himself in the world of music since the young age of 8, Rudy Touzet has stepped up again with a fresh sounding new single, “Rather Be”. Luckily for us, the artist took the time to answer our insightful questions into the creation of his music, the process, and what we can expect going forward. Before you listen to the track, go ahead and do yourselves a favor and get inside the head of this talented musician below.

WWAM: Hello Rudy! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions. How's your day going so far?

Rudy: Hi! thank you so much for this opportunity! I’m doing great thank you for asking.

WWAM:To start, you've dove head first into this lyrically expressive song, "Rather Be". Would you mind explaining exactly what it's all about?

Rudy: Rather Be was written during a time that we all were still stuck at home and I was crushing on someone. So I wanted to write this song to let them know that although we can only talk through a screen, i’d do anything to get there and be with them!

WWAM: The production on the song is too good. Do you do all of your production, or do you have help putting together the final pieces?

Rudy: The past 2 years I have been working with Chapters (Luke Shrestha and Simon Jay) and for this song we had Jed Peek come help with production. I feel like all three of them really painted the picture that was in my head and really helped shape my upcoming EP when it came to my sound.

WWAM: You cover a lot of ground within the genres, if you had to put a label on the music you're making, what would you call it?

Rudy: I definitely have tested out my sound the past two years. I think I would narrow my new music into the tropical/dance pop genre.

WWAM: Are you going to be looking to experiment on future singles?

Rudy: Definitely! I feel like a lot of my recent songs are about drinking, partying, and being spontaneous haha. But I’ve been trying to dive deeper into my emotions and focus more on my story rather than something that could be played at a club.

WWAM: How long have you been playing music? What stemmed this song's creation?

Rudy: I’ve been singing my whole life! I did musical theater for all of elementary, middle, and high school. Once I got to college, I realized that I really wanted to make my own music and focus more on that. Specifically for Rather Be, I really wanted a fun dance song with a catchy falsetto chorus.

WWAM: What's the one thing you look forward to the most when embarking on starting a new song?

Rudy: My favorite part of the process of writing a new song is in the beginning when we’re figuring out what the song is going to be like! In those moments, the world is your oyster and you can literally start a song off of anything!

WWAM: Any plans for upcoming shows or a proper tour?

Rudy: The goal is to go on tour or to open for someone’s tour! I’m just so excited to do shows and perform the songs from my debut EP!

WWAM: What does the next year of your life look like?

Rudy: MORE MUSIC!! After graduating, I finally have had the time to put 100% of myself into my music career. So I’m excited to just lock myself in a studio and write!

WWAM: For anyone discovering you from this interview, what's an opening message you'd like to say to them before they listen to your music?

Rudy: Welcome!! I hope you dance your heart out and scream the lyrics with me <3
