Filled with all the funky bass lines and a whole lot of love in the vocals, the duo of RubyGld Smoke have delivered another wonderful single, “Forbidden Fruit”. Read on for our full review of the track, in addition to a background on the group.
Putting their own spin on Pop and Soul, RubyGld Smoke have a sexy and lively single that just dropped on March 2nd titled “Forbidden Fruit”. Somewhere between something we’d love out of the mid-90’s and expertly blended with a huge dose of modern, we’re virtually guaranteeing everyone who listens is going to be hypnotized off their first listen. Don’t wait any longer, dive head first into this track.
If you’re somehow unfamiliar with the greatness that is RubyGld Smoke, they’re a husband and wife duo who’s chemistry only adds to their unique style of music. According to the duo, “‘Forbidden Fruit’ allows listeners to embrace their guilty pleasures and chase after the relationships that aren’t necessarily the best for them”. It’ll all come through once you make those connections within the lyricism, however there’s a decent chance you’ve been in the situation where you want something you can’t have. To be honest, it doesn't’ even have to be romantic, but for some reason, our attractions rise when we can’t have something our eyes are set on.
While it’s quite clear we thoroughly enjoyed this song, the hidden star of it all was the massive upgrade in production that RubyGld Smoke’s music has seen as a whole. Not to discount any of their other works, but truly everything rose a level on “Forbidden Fruit” and it’s so nice to see them head in this funk-based direction going forward. If you get the opportunity, we also recommend checking out the rest of their discography to fully get a grasp on where they’ve come from.
