Born and raised in New York, life wasn’t always easy for Rob Love. Growing up LGBTQ+ had its challenges, so to cope, music instantly became a passion to escape the difficult reality. As of 2019, Rob Love’s musical journey officially embarked as he released his first single, and since then, it’s been hit after hit. With a feature from Gate Citizens on the track, this newest single is another win in his expanding discography.

Says Rob Love, “Music and my mom really saved my life”. His sneaking suspicion was the music is always where he felt he needed to be, but never had the ability to explore. Thankfully that changed and he had the opportunity to begin performing at clubs all around the tristate area. Although everyone’s been on a touring standstill for the moment, it’s quickly become a hope for us to catch a set from the artist sometime in 2021.

As for “Blue”, well this track features a little bit of everything on the musical spectrum. For the lovers of electronic dance music, hip hop, rap, and more, there’s moments on here that everyone will be able to appreciate. At just a little under four minutes in run time, there isn’t a single wasted second from start to finish. Instrumentally, it’s basically got everything that’s necessary for a song of its caliber. It’s emotion and suspense wrapped up in layered production, subtle inclusions of horns, polished vocals, and a surprising rap feature that ties it all together.

While we’d classify this as a vocal forward track, Rob gives the listener the opportunity to fall in love with not only his delivery, but his story as well. There’s a story being told here under the layer of sound, you’ve just got to apply yourself and hear the message clearly on the point he’s trying to get across. Whether that means you’ve got to listen multiple times to hear that, then so be it. It’s a pretty sounding song, so it shouldn’t be too much of an ordeal.

So while this one is obviously a hit, we’ve also got to urge you to check out his other officially released singles, “Show Me Your Love” and “Sticks & Stones”. Both fantastic and also give you the look at the evolution of his sound over the past year. You can palpably hear the changes in production techniques and improvements in delivery. It also provides a base for what you can expect to hear in the future, of which we hope there’s more on the horizon.

With all this being said, we hope you’ll give a listen and help support the artist who’s got a lot more to tell. For now, enjoy his track “Blue”.
