Richie Madewell delivers memorable performance on debut, "The Colors In My Dreams"
Officially released in 2018, but still as powerful in its execution present day, Richie Madewell’s full length album The Colors In My Dreams is well worth your time and effort to listen to. Please read on for our in-depth review of the record.
Throwing it way back to 2018, Richie Madewell had just taken the plunge into releasing his debut album The Colors In My Dreams. Fast forward to today and it’s still as special as it was three years ago. Influenced directly by some of the greats like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Jeff Buckley, Richie still managed to bring a modern take on an incredibly tough genre to nail. Our sincere suggestion is to check it out immediately.
While our introduction to Richie Madewell came through his recently released James Bond-esque single “There Is No Time To Die”, it’s been really great to be able to dig through his existing discography to get to hear where he started and where he’s ended up. For this Indiana-born alternative singer and songwriter, the more he expands his horizons and tries new things in his musical creation, the more confidence he’s instilling in us that everything in the future is going to be impeccable.
Coming in at 12 songs, spanning just around 51 minutes in length, this is a hefty dose of 90’s and early 2000’s nostalgia that has translated super well into the modern world. Kicking things off with the opener “Breaking Me” is all you really need to be sucked into the rest of the record. Blending together his commanding and powerful vocals on top of a tight instrumentation is exactly what we were hoping for. What can’t be forgotten here is the songwriting, mainly because as caught up as you may be in the grand sound of the record, there's a lot of stories and themes that demand to be heard as well.
Some clear standouts for us during our listen were “You’ll Never See”, “Want You Madly”, and the perfect closer, “Fall”. That’s not to say in the slightest that anything else fell flat, rather these were the highlights that really showcased the best of Richie Madewell’s abilities. With so much more on the way coming from this talented artist, we truly can’t wait to compare this album with whatever comes next.
Let us mention it one more time, but The Colors In My Dreams should 100% be next up in your album listening queue. Without giving too much else away, go ahead and check out all of the important links below where you can listen and follow along for all updates.
