Based out of Bombay, India, Rae Valentine has released an ode to summer love with her new single “Moments.” Please keep reading for our full review of the track, info about the artist, and how to keep up with one of India’s rising stars. 

Valentine began writing songs when she was 16, and according to her, no truer words have ever been spoken than when Christopher Sondheim said, “If I cannot fly, let me sing.” Valentine draws a lot of inspiration from western music and lists Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Julia Michaels as specific examples. When we listened here I instantly thought of Gwen Stefani. 

Her debut album Faith was released in the summer of 2019 and has already been streamed over 100,000 times on Spotify. She also currently hosts her own radio show on iHeartRadio, one of the youngest artists from India doing so.  

Since all of her songs are based on personal experience, her music has a passion and depth to it that is not easy to capture. When asked to speak about what inspired “Moments” in particular Valentine replied, “This song is about two people reminiscing about their short-lived romance, which is immensely close to their heart, but they don't have any photographs or other items to help them cherish it. The only thing that they have is the 'moments' they spent with each other.”

We all want music that connects to us on some level, and Rae Valentine has found that in “Moments.” By combining a catchy pop melody, with her velvety voice, and intimate lyrics, Valentine is able to weave a narrative that feels deeply personal yet somehow familiar. And with the sound of the crashing waves throughout, it is easy to get lost in your own memories of summer romance while listening. We have truly fallen in love with this track and cannot wait to see what else Rae Valentine has in store for us in the future!
