Honestly, we could pick out 100 of our favorite parts of Public by Two’s debut album, Leal, but you’ll just have to find out for yourself. Keep reading on for our full thoughts on the record, as well as a background on the band.

If you’re unfamiliar with the work of Public by Two, they’re a Venezuelan Electronic Rock duo who are already making waves on this new album. Released a little bit earlier this year, they’ve collaborated with Grammy Award winning Ignacio “Nacho” Molino (Ruben Blades, Carlos Vives), Randy Merrill (Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles) and sound engineer Ricardo Gutiérrez, known for his work with Julio Iglesias and Cartel de Santa. Together they’ve put together an experience that we’re highly recommending.

On the background of Leal, the albu aims to “reimagine the possibilities of their music through genuine identity, with dark and complex textures”. If that’s what they were going for, then they 100% nailed it. So complex in its approach and unbelievably instrumentally diverse, there are infinite redeeming factors that we found on the record. It’s a signifier of their future sound and is surely going to open doors for the future.

Made up vocalist Jose Blanco and bassist Jesus Briceño who are brothers, they’ve been making music together since 2011 and it’s literally only gone up since then. On this near 40 minute thriller of a record, each brother gets to shine, as well as the stellar production from the help they’ve got. A massive standout for us was the drumming on this record, just wow. Right from the opener on “Anestesia”, they hooked us in with big, clear, and commanding tones that are exactly up our alley.

The rest of the album delivered in unexplainable ways, but truly, the album is such an anomaly amongst so many other alternative rock records. The passion you can sense in it and the love between two family members shows through completely. Even better, they’ve made some pretty stellar music videos as well to really show off the cinematic and dramatic side of the record. We’ve included all the links below.

Lastly, we are once again highly suggesting you give this album a listen now! Make sure to follow them on their social media too for all the latest updates.
