After a slow tease of singles leading up to their EP release, Promise Game have finally delivered their outstanding new record, Horizon. We’re loving it! Read on for our in-depth review, in addition to a much needed background on the band.

Consisting of Colin VanDenBerge (vocals), Adam Elverson (guitar/vocals), Michael Cochran (Guitar), Matt Eisenstadter (bass), Eric Schneider (keys), and Mark Elverson (drums), Promise Game are a pop punk band who have over delivered on their latest EP, Horizon. After blowing us away last year with their single “Any Reason To Party”, we were obviously thrilled to learn that so much more music was headed our way. If for some reason this is your introduction to the band, let Horizon be the reason to become a fan for life.

While their influences of Say Anything, New Found Glory, and many others show themselves throughout the five track listen, you’re still immediately overwhelmed in the senses by heaps of originality and pure personality coming through in the delivery. The band aims to find themselves in a post “Warped Tour” world, and while pop punk still has a rabid fan base, we completely understand the concern. With that being said though, the energy and passion infused into these songs lets us know they’ve got no plans on slowing down and are clearly having a blast in the process.

Now while we definitely found the EP to be incredibly cohesive from start to finish, Promise Game also showcases a breadth of sound and style as well. We felt as though the first two tracks served as a warm up to lure the listener in, but the rest of the record was a whiplash in the best way possible. Through perfectly timed screams, heavy yet approachable instrumentation, and a freshness in a genre that needs it so badly, we’ll undoubtedly be making our way back to Horizon when we need a mood boost. Furthermore, getting to witness this in a live setting would for sure be a memorable show!

Speaking of, the band actually has a mini tour planned this upcoming week with Driveways, Goalkeeper, Cheer Up Dusty and a handful of other bands. If you happen to be in the area, it’s a show you’re not going to want to miss. We’ve included all the important links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay up to date with all the latest info. Enjoy!
