Feeling like a blast from the past of the mid 2000’s, Prince Woods has simply blown us away with his latest track, “Butterfly”. We love it! Please read on for a closer look into the single, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.

Fusing together his already eclectic taste in music and style, Prince Woods has merged the sounds of the past with the present and future on “Butterfly”. Slightly reminiscent of artists like Hellogoodbye, Owl City, and Metro Station, he’s still somehow taken those influences and created something entirely new of his own. It’s like a subtle blend of hyperpop, emo, and pop punk in a way, but also completely stands out as original. We haven’t been able to stop listening and are recommending lovers of music across the spectrum to enjoy this.

As a producer, singer, songwriter, and ultimately just a super talented artist, “Butterfly” is the culmination of Prince Woods’ creative abilities. Right at the forefront he shows you his versatility in terms of modulation within the vocals and even recalls to years past. Personally, we’re not sure why this particular brand of music ever went out of style, but if this is what it takes to get a proper resurgence going, then we’re fully on board. Where electronic meets pop and more is where you’ll find this song, but it almost goes further for the sake of experimentation. Honestly it’s shocking that he was able to cram so much goodness into only a two minute runtime, because from the opening notes you get thrown into this atmospheric world where time completely loses its meaning.

Considering this is his first single of the year coming right towards the end of 2022, we’re already crossing our fingers that more in the same vein is in store for the new year. Although we will say that the replayability factor is high on “Butterfly”, begging the listener to capture that initial high that the first runthrough provides. As we wait for more though, we’ll be doing a deep dive on his existing discography, because we’re almost positive there’s plenty of gems hiding in the mix.
