Pivoting yet expanding their signature alternative rock sound, Perfectparachutepicture have served up an instantly catchy and earworm worthy new song, “It’s Broken”. On the heels of their success with “Silhouette”, they’ve still managed to capture that initial signature essence in the emotion of the vocals, crunchiness of the instrumentation, spliced in with a rich and explosive production. Without a doubt, it’s both a band and a song that we are overwhelmingly recommending everyone give a spin immediately.
On the background of the track, “It’s Broken” explores “feeling helpless to another person’s self-destructive personality that rubs off on everyone and everything that it’s around”. In an all too relatable sentiment, that’s certainly a topic that doesn’t nearly get the amount of attention that it deserves. It’s like the bad apple effect becoming intrusive on all the surrounding fruit, except in this scenario humans are involved. Perfectparachutepicture have brought a voice to this emotionally charged track with lyrics that expertly paint a picture, all the while infusing the ideal vibe to the song’s tone in order to fully mirror the gravity of it all. They’ve also mentioned that the “start/stop” style was made to emphasize the theme too.
At just a little over three minutes in complete runtime, the band have loaded this one up with an instrumentation that quickly gets your heart pumping and introduces drama too. Considering it’s their third single release of the year, they’re well on their way to amassing a seriously impressive discography, making sure to experiment on the way.
