Parker Howard delivers an inspired cover of Chelsea Cutler's "Your Shirt"

If for some reason you’ve been out of the loop, we’ve been covering Parker Howard’s music extensively over the past year, so you can only imagine our sheer delight when this single dropped. It’s an inspired cover of Chelsea Cutler’s “Your Shirt”, but in a way that not only pays homage to a great, rather amplifies exactly what Parker continues to bring to the table on all of her music. Of course, we’re highly recommending everyone out there listen to it as soon as possible.
Freshly released on September 29th, 2022, right at the forefront of “Your Shirt” are Parker’s signature heartfelt vocals that also feature an edge and control through every line delivered. Backed up by euphoric vocals that bring a true complexity to the song, so much of what we enjoyed about this is that it’s not a complete take for take version of the original. Typically when we hear those types of covers it turns us off and doesn’t really show us what makes the artist different, however in this case Parker has composed it in a way that brings a youthful freshness into the mix. It’s incredibly vocal forward and gives the listener the opportunity to see what other genres she’s capable of, because in this case, we’d love to hear something similar that borders on being atmospheric like this.
Now for those who might be unfamiliar with the original, we’d recommend you check that out prior to listening to this. It’s a wonderful song and one that definitely feels underrated, so it was certainly a surprise to see that Parker had chosen it. We quickly took that back and after realizing the subtle beauty that comes through. If anything, this updated version has sparked a newfound appreciation, and it’s all thanks to the composition and richness that Parker’s holds. We hope that it serves as a gateway to the rest of her music which fully stands on its own and showcases what a stunning performer she really is.
