Our Violet Room exceed expectations on cold weather single, "Winter"
Just released on August 20th and already generating big buzz, Our Violet Room are back with a lovely new single titled “Winter”. Keep reading for our full review of the track, as well as a background on the project.
Based out of Denver, Colorado, Our Violet Room is the solo project of Matthew Birch in which he’s creating an almost movie-like presence within his signature folk sound. Featuring Emma Cole on vocals on this newest single “Winter”, the two have captured absolute greatness that has collectively sent shivers down our spines. As massive lovers of all things acoustic folk, we urge you to check out this song immediately.
Even better for the project of Our Violet Room, “Winter” is already set to be featured on a popular FreeForm show called Good Trouble. Set to air on August 25th, we have a confident feeling that this is only the start of even bigger things to come for the artist. Considering that the music 100% backs up the success he’s seeing or about to see, ultimately it has us on pins and needles for all subsequent releases. Not to give too much away, but there’s something even bigger looming around the corner for later this year.
As an independent singer and songwriter who’s doing everything right, he’s taking influences from the masters such as Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver, Coldplay and more and putting a much needed twist to his own mix. Going for a lush atmosphere, hard hitting lyrics, and masterful compositions is exactly what we needed and he’s completely delivered. “Winter” was nothing short of a feel good listen that has us feeling relaxed, yet optimistic towards the future.
Atmospherically speaking, and not to sound too cheesy, but the song actually feels like cold weather music. It’s something you could curl up next to a fire and play; it would just fit in magically with how the entire song radiates. Once again, we highly encourage all to listen to the single, but also prepare yourselves for all that’s to come.
