Marking his first official release since 1998, Orange Kush has come storming back with an eclectic and genre-diverse record called Days of the Underground. We’ve sincerely loved every moment of it! Read on for our full review of the album, in addition to a background on the artist.

Known as Orange Kush, this Brighton-based musician has put together a melting pot of sound that includes nods to old school Hip-Hop, Acid House, Rave, and Drum & Bass. Expertly blended together and not missing a beat throughout the entirety of the listen, this is his debut album and first release on his personal record label, Congellous. Music lovers across the entire spectrum are going to fall in love with his music, we can guarantee it.

While it feels like there are a million different things we could point out here to convey how much we loved Days of the Underground, we’ll start off by saying just how different yet cohesive each song was. Immediately on the opener “Get Up on your Feet”, Orange Kush throws you directly into his world and gives you a taste of all the genres mentioned above. However as the album goes on, the songs refine themselves a little bit and narrow down into one or two genres, but it really allows for the artist to show you his best at the same time.

Some songs certainly leaned more to the Electronica side and definitely all infused synthesizers, but the constant throughout were the endless breakbeat grooves. We found ourselves basically unable to stay still as soon as we clicked the play button, mainly due to the overwhelming urge to get moving and dancing. Days of the Underground was compelling in its motives and continuously kept us guessing as to what would come next. All in all, this was a musical feat that only a true lover of all genres would be able to pull off, and for that, we commend and welcome back Orange Kush to making music. We can’t wait for more!

One last thing we’ll say without giving too much else away is we’re definitely going to consider this to be a must listen for whenever you’re reading this. You can get into it, follow along, and stay tuned for more by checking all the important links featured below.
