Consider us thrilled because Opium Ink has made their return with a massive new single titled “Magnetic”! We are loving this one. Please read along with us as we give our complete analysis of the track, as well as a refresher on the duo.

After a string of successful singles coming throughout 2020, our favorite electro pop duo Opium Ink are back and better than ever with “Magnetic”. We’ve legitimately been waiting on pins and needles for their newest drop and it has surpassed all the expectations we had. With the help of The Anix on production and mastering from Grammy-nominated engineer Mike Marsh (Chemical Brothers, Calvin Harris), this could potentially be their biggest and best release yet.

For those out of the loop, Opium Ink are made up of Sarah Orloff (vocals, bass) and Wilma Kaddissi (drums) along with a rotating cast of guest instrumentalists. What Sarah and Wilma have pulled off here is obviously worth your time, but we also implore you as the reader to explore the rest of their discography to truly get a taste of their evolution in sound. It wasn’t too long ago that we reviewed their singles “Run Away” and “Can’t Breathe”, but since then we’ve just been patiently waiting for this drop.

As for the song itself without giving too much away, you can expect a wall of sound that features ear-splitting synthesizers, deafening drums, and an immensely memorable and anthemic chorus. To be honest, we’ve probably listened 10 times already and it just keeps getting better. For us, it’s the type of music that’s meant to be cranked up loud and sung at the top of your lungs. With live shows coming back, we can only dream of getting to witness not only this song played in person, but a set full of their already existing jams.

For the first time listener out there, don’t be afraid if the overwhelming sensation to play air guitar or drums comes washing over you, that’s just a positive side effect of the music. With that being said though, we’ve done the easy part and listed everything important below in order to keep up with Opium ink.
