Freshly released on September 16th, 2022, Oceans in the Sky have made their return with a lively new single titled “Ghost”. Please keep reading for a closer look into the track, in addition to a background on this emerging band.

Serving as the band’s third overall single, Oceans in the Sky are consistently making statements within their sound and style, but specifically on their latest, “Ghost”. Just shared on Heading East Records, the newest label from Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday), the band have given the world another small taste of what’s to come leading up to their debut album, Parallels. If what we’ve heard so far is any indication of the future, then let us confidently state our hype levels are rising, and we cannot wait for everyone out there to crank this up and get listening.

Written and produced by Liam Frost after his move back to Taipei, ultimately this song was created out of “insomnia and loneliness”. Although the lyricism is certainly reflective and mirrors glimmers of spite, the actual song itself is about as energetic and anthemic as they come. Considering this was our initial introduction to Oceans in the Sky as a whole, we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but once those first notes hit, we were hooked. Immediately in your face you’ll experience stadium-sized drums, elements of electropop, and even shades of emo/punk within the vocal delivery and guitar sections. Undoubtedly, “Ghost” features a wide variety of influence and inspiration, but in a combination that we’ve 100% never experienced in one isolated track.

For every song that details negative experiences of the past or at least makes attempts to change in the future, we always end up enjoying them when they juxtapose the mood of the song with vibrance. In our opinion, that’s exactly what ‘Ghost” did so well is sort of bring you out of the funk tonally that the song holds with this bright and ingenious instrumentation. Emotional rock music has been a legitimate favorite genre since we were all children, so getting glimpses of that during this five minute thriller actually had us on the edge of our seat. Twists and turns were not what we were expecting, however Oceans in the Sky have completely nailed it in the art of surprise on “Ghost”. We love this!

Now it’s your turn to give it a shot. Please, go ahead and click those links below to listen, follow along, and to keep updated on the band’s impending debut album.
