Nuzu deliver an experimental masterpiece on EP, "Zu Box *1"
Celebrating its official release today on February 11th, 2022, Nuzu has a killer new EP out titled Zu Box *1. We are loving it! Read on for our full review of the record, as well as a background on the project.
Consisting of rappers Kayes Mensah and Teige along with Producer/Videographer Jack Wyer, Nuzu are a trio of epic proportions that have put out something seriously special in Zu Box*1. They’re a United Kingdom based music experiment that center their music around Rap, but they certainly don’t hold themselves inside that box or genre. This new record has seriously impressed us in big ways and we can’t wait for everyone out there to give it a focused listen.
Although the group has been together in 2019, they’ve continued to be incredibly consistent in their releases, especially over the past two years. Honing in their sound and aesthetic, the visual aspect of their work is what is setting them apart from the masses at this point. On the outside it might seem like off the wall work that’s meant to stimulate the senses, however if you listen closely, their lyricism is extremely powerful too. Writing on important topics like mental health, self-reflection, and observations on their surroundings, nothing is too serious to make it into the music.
While the record is only three songs in length, they leave nothing to the imagination and have truly left it all out on the line. Each song is a sonic and atmospheric masterpiece that shows different sides and approaches to their style, however it really does flow consistently from start to finish. It would be difficult to pick a favorite as they’re all so wonderful, so our recommendation here is to consume all of it in chronological order. While you’re at it, you might as well do some deep digging on the rest of Nuzu’s music, we guarantee there’s some hidden gems lurking in the background.
