New Music Friday - Week of 6/5/2020

Article by Austin Sher

If you thought last week wasn’t crazy enough, welcome to the week of June 5th, 2020, where the world seems to be falling apart minute by minute, yet life still somehow goes on. How you may ask, well we’d like to attribute a little of that to the power of music and everything artists across the globe are doing to keep our spirits afloat.

In this week in particular, the Black Lives Matter protests have disrupted our daily lives in the best way possible. We’ve seen artists gather, and basically anyone else who’s been unemployed due to the Coronavirus gather against police brutality and a slew of other incredible reasons. It has really become a spectacle at this point and I feel that none of this would be happening if there weren’t an unprecedented 40 million unemployed. However, just because we’re beginning to see some semblance of change, does not mean we can let up at all. The ball has just began to roll on the issues at hand and any donations are more than welcomed.

In the case of the state of the world, I know we’ve been coping lately with all the releases we’ve seen this week in terms of new tracks, album announcements, surprises, and so much more. Although you do have to consider by going out and protesting, you’re at risk at contracting the virus and spreading, but taking a public health risk in order to create change for the rest of our lifetimes may potentially be the right move here, depending on the impact it could have on your family members.

With that being said, we really do hope that if you’re out there fighting for our rights and reform, you stay safe and help one another. If you see someone hurt, help. If you have extra resources, don’t be afraid to share. We’re all in this together. Black Lives Matter. Protect them.
