Neil Armstrong explores his all new record, "Finding A Way Home" - Interview
Another immensely powerful album from Neil Armstrong meant a prime opportunity to bring the artist in for a full in-depth discussion! Check out our full interview below with the artist surrounding his newest record, Finding A Way Home.
For those potentially out of the loop on the music of Neil Armstrong, this is the perfect place to introduce yourself. For this indie rock master and classically trained multi-instrumentalist, he’s seemingly effortlessly putting together tunes that are not only memorable, but quite profound as well. With help from lyricist David Will Mitchell and producer J.M. Sagrista, his latest record Finding A Way Home has quickly turned into one of our favorites.
On this 8-track album, Neil has followed up his wonderful 2020 album Nearly Life with a record that “explores themes of darkness and light on a journey homeward”. Always putting an emphasis on the songwriting is one of the main reasons why Neil’s music has become so important to us. In a musical world that focuses on gimmicky beats and novelty, his music is refined to the point of pure beauty and showmanship on the complete package. Getting to speak with Neil all about the subtleties of the record, the process in which it was recorded, and so much more was a complete treat.
With even more music on the way, because he never stops creating, we really can’t emphasize enough how much we enjoyed listening to this record. We found it to be incredibly cohesive once again, which basically means we encourage old and new listeners to start from the beginning and just press play. Let it run through unbothered and make those connections throughout the album. We know we’ve focused on the songwriting aspect of course, but really the instrumentation side of things needs to be mentioned too. There’s infinite moments of joy presented here and at least one part on every track that will have you smiling.
Without giving too much away, there’s not much more we can say, other than another reminder to check out our conversation with Neil Armstrong and to give his discography a run through. There’s so many gems that stand out, but you’ve got to be the ones to discover them.
