Neda delivers her genre expansive debut EP, "VSSLS"
Overwhelming the senses on her debut EP titled VSSLS, Neda has blown us away with this thoughtful and artistically inclined record. Please read on for our full review of the album, as well as a background on the artist.
Originally from Los Angeles, but primarily raised in the South of the US, music has consistently been a focal point of Neda’s life. Acting as a “form of meditation, therapy, and a vehicle for self reflection”, we’re beyond thrilled that she’s taken that love and turned it into something to call her own. On VSSLS, she showcases a dynamic vocal range on top of a genre-blended production that is truly one of a kind. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our listen and can’t wait for everyone out there to listen too.
At just four songs, spanning right around seventeen minutes, she’s put it all out on the table for what’s ended up to be a completely entertaining and soulful listen. For us, there were tons of standouts, but we instantly recognized the close attention to the mixing in the way that her vocals stay at the forefront and she’s backed up by atmospheric instrumentation. Every song is a little world of its own, and particularly “Water” is what piqued our interest the most. The laid back nature to it and the added effects made for something transcendent.
As this is Neda’s first official release minus the lead single “Can’t Waist It (On You)”, our immediate reaction after finishing up was when can we expect the follow up? Obviously music and art needs time to create, but she’s managed to nail down this sound that doesn’t need any fixing or evolution to it. We’d love to hear something else totally similar that expands on this sound and demeanor. In the meantime while we patiently wait, we’ll undoubtedly be spinning this one as often as we can.
With all that being said though, VSSLS is something special that deserves your 100% focused attention. We’ve included all the important links below in order to listen, follow along, and of course to stay tuned with whatever else is on the way. Enjoy!
