A massive blast of energy from beginning to end, Neck Dive have absolutely crushed it on their debut EP, Finally Live. Keep reading as we share our thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the band.

Made up of Cade Dones (vocals/bass), Luke Waites (vocals/guitar), Jason Silvestro (guitar) and Jasper Smith (drums), Neck Dive are a Massachusetts-based punk rock band that were officially formed in 2020. On their all new debut EP Finally Live, the group have managed to accomplish so much in such a short amount of time. Delivering perplexing songs that are both vibrant, upbeat, and powerful, we can’t help but highly recommend everyone out there give this a loud listen as soon as you can.

Coming in at just three total tracks that span right around ten minutes, it’s a relatively quick listen, but one that packs a serious punch in everything it has to offer. Kicking things with sort of a slow burner titled “Letter To The Drifted”, Neck Dive ease you into the madness before things begin to truly let loose as the record goes on. For a band that calls themselves punk, we were sufficiently surprised at how many other subgenres and styles made their way in too. They’re definitely inspired by the 90’s and grunge, that’s for sure, but undoubtedly they’ve put a signature sound and essence into the mix that certifiably distances them from similar acts in the same vein.

Instrumentally speaking, there’s also tons of innovation and risk taking at play here. On the other tracks “Give A Shit” and “Destiny”, Neck Dive aren’t holding back in the slightest in terms of laying it all out there with sheer emphasis with a touch of an anthemic feeling too. The record is called Finally Live and while we think that may be alluding to them finally releasing music, it also holds a double meaning for us in that we need to witness this live. There’s an intensity about these three tracks that we can only imagine would only be amplified seeing it go down in person. Obviously we’re urging everyone to listen, but if they come by a city near you, grab a ticket.
