As the Summer season begins to peak its head around the corner in our area of the world, it’s albums like MY BABY’’s sake sake sake that are going to be on repeat! Read on for our full review of the record, in addition to a background on the band.

Currently based out of Amsterdam, MY BABY are a psychedelic trio that have revamped their sound for a completely different look on their past. Sliding into 2022 with their latest, sake sake sake, they collaborated with 5-time Grammy Winning producer, Steve Dub (Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk) to help finalize the sound. You’ll experience a slightly futuristic sound that’s chalk filled with pop overtones and reeks of 90’s nostalgia and endless grooves. Without a doubt, we’re loving this album and can’t wait for everyone out there to give it a spin.

Taking inspiration from certain genres like Dreamwave Pop, 90’s Trip Hop, and so much more, they’ve still imparted a signature sound that doesn’t feel reductive. It furthers their already impressive catalog and hopefully gives a sneak peek into the deep future of what’s to come for MY BABY. Speaking directly on sake sake sake, the album comes in at 13 total songs, spanning right around 42 minutes, but the listening experience flies right by due to how immediately sucked in you get. Right from the get go on opener “stupid”, you’re helpless to the beats and all your body really wants to do is get dancing.

Paired with lo-fi vocals throughout, bombastic drumming, and thumping bass lines, the absolute versatility of this record is limitless. You don’t necessarily need to be an electronic music fan to enjoy, rather anyone who can appreciate well crafted original and experimental music should be in a blissful trance. Another thing that we need to mention is the dynamic usage of instrumentation presented here, seriously, it feels infinite with how much is being involved. There’s no end to the twists and turns that you’ll experience, but especially on specific tracks like “a dream I dream” and “don’t fight it”. The aim here isn’t to spoil, rather to hype up a record that’s going to make waves once the masses hit the play button.

Please do exactly that by checking out all of the important links below. Listen, follow along, and stay tuned for hopefully more coming as soon as possible. Enjoy!
