Mumble Day Parade create their own laid back aesthetic on self-titled EP
Making their debut with a wonderful little mini self-titled EP, we can already tell massive things are on the way from Mumble Day Parade. Go ahead and read on for our full review on the record, as well as a background on the artists.
Released via Snake Plant Records, their newest signing Mumble Day Parade is already proving their greatness with a killer EP of the same band name. Sharing members with Stereo No Aware and actually completing this record back in 2019, the freshness and originality of it all is still holding true in 2022. We’ve seriously come to love this indie rock sound quite quickly and confidently think lovers of the genre will find something to love as well.
Influenced by Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control, you can certainly feel those inspirations on these three tracks, however they’ve taken the best bits of that era and infused their own poppiness into the mix. After a seriously difficult year due to personal experiences, it feels like that passion and emotion is what fueled the energy behind this music and you can certainly grasp the power that backs it all up. With so much more on the way from both of the projects, you’ve got to consider this as a must listen before the rest comes in the near future.
At only 11 minutes in length, the initial reaction could feel like there’s not enough to really form an opinion on a unique sound, however that’s actually the complete opposite. On just three total tracks, Mumble Day Parade completely immerse you into their atmospheric world filled with inventive production effects, lo-fi vocals, and a total aesthetic that is like none other. Describing something as “indie” usually isn’t the best, but there’s just that aura of DIY to this that gives that extra oomph of amazing.
Picking a favorite song would honestly be a terrible idea because it’s all so great from start to finish. If you don’t have time to listen to three songs, well, you better find the time because they’re all wonderful.
