Treating old and new fans to a fantastic and inventive cover of Blondie’s “Call Me” is none other than MR.Slade himself. Luckily for us, we got the opportunity to sit and speak with the artist for an in-depth interview surrounding the release. Check it out below!

Departing from his originals for just a moment, MR.Slade put together a seriously compelling version of Blondie’s “Call Me” that actually breathed a new life into a classic. Taking elements of 70’s glam rock, 80’s hair metal, and a little disco thrown in there for good measure, this is our preferred style of cover that doesn’t completely mirror the original. Even better, getting to hear about it from this musician that we’ve been covering for a while was the cherry on top.

Now it’s been nearly a year since we last covered MR.Slade when he released “You Make It So Hard” and “This Is How We Make Love”, so you can only imagine our excitement when we saw he had more coming out. Truly though, the best part was getting to take the moment and get inside his head to hear about the production process, origins of why he chose this song, and so many fun little topics we covered in the process.

Taking away from the music for just a moment, this was definitely one of the livelier conversations we’ve had in a while too. A lot of the artists that we speak too air on the nervous side, however speaking with him was the highlight of our day. It’s going to be a fun journey into 2022 with everything new that we hope is on the way. Whether it’s new singles, an EP, or an album, we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled and our ears ready.

With that being said, let us point you in the direction of the links below where you can listen, follow along, and stay tuned for everything else that’s on the way. Enjoy!
