Crafting together a sound that bridges the gap between decades, sounds, and infinite styles, Moving City have just shared another astounding single they’ve titled “These Days”. Through an interesting blend that sort of embodies the best characteristics of folk and rock, the band has still imparted their signature touch and essence for what we found to be a space-like adventure in music. Without a doubt, it’s both a song and a band that we’re highly recommending everyone check out.
One of our first impressions on the initial listen was how different in song structure “These Days” truly is and we say that in the best way possible. Instead of your average constructed mainstream hit, Moving City dares to think outside the box and create something that both keeps the listener guessing and piques everyone’s interest at the same time. There’s no doubt about it that it’s atmospheric and expansive, but it also goes to show you how impressive the achievement in production really is. We’d urge everyone before listening to grab your best pair of headphones and listen that way so as to not miss out on any of the sonic subtleties.
For this Vancouver-based band, there’s an artistic vision that comes to play and we can only imagine the amount of forethought that goes into every track. “These Days” though really feels more like a legitimate piece of art rather than your standard song, which is what we think all artists should be shooting for nowadays. They’ve certainly nailed the instrumental aspect to it which honestly took up a majority of our attention, but we know for a fact that they didn’t lack in the slightest on the lyricism either. On future listens for us, it’ll be a mission to actually decipher the messaging and themes being presented. We thoroughly enjoyed that the song isn’t “one note” and actually has that replayability about it that begs you to come back for more once that final note hits.
