Kicking off her music career in 2022 and staying quite consistent thus far, Miserableisobel has just let loose a total stunner, “What If”. Please read on for our full review of the track, as well as a background on the artist.

Somewhere between spoken word with an atmospheric and lo-fi aesthetic on the vocal delivery, Miserableisobel is certainly thinking outside of the box on her music as a whole. While “What If” is just one of already many releases this year so far, it’s certainly the one that has stuck with us the most. We feel that the more you listen, the more you can connect the dots within the story line and the complexities really come to play. Needless to say, we think this is an artist worth pursuing and a song that you should hit the play button on.

Passionate about mental illness awareness and often incorporating that into her music lyrically, it’s going to be quite the journey to see how Miserableisobel revolutionizes her sound and themes over the coming years. Coming in at just a little over two minutes in runtime, the artist wastes not a moment immediately immersing the listener into her dreamy sound and serves up something that aims to think outside the box. While it’s not inherently poppy, there really is a specific vibe and laid back nature to it all that we think she’s succeeded on the most. You’re meant to get sucked into the lyricism as that’s the focal point, and ultimately the musician has succeeded in drawing your attention in specific ways.

While her debut album Dollhouse was also released this year, we sincerely can’t wait to dig into that to further explore her personal experiences and struggles. For an artist to go the non-traditional route with a debut album so quickly (which we love), there’s got to be plenty to uncover once you start listening. In the meantime, we urge everyone out there to start with “What If” and to work your way through the rest of her discography. Chances are there’s more on the way soon enough, so best to hop on the bandwagon now!
