London’s own, Milena Estelle, has officially dove right into the music scene with the release of her debut single, “Free”. Read along as we dig into the song itself as well as a little bit background about the artist.

Fusing a variety of genres woven into song, Milena Estelle has successfully created an indie pop classic that we hope all listeners will be singing right back to her for years to come. Based out of both London and Frankfurt, Estelle lets her emotion free in the form of music, and especially on “Free”. Discovering music at the young age of six years old definitely didn’t hurt, as at this point it appears music has been ingrained in her since childhood.

According to Estelle, “the single takes a journey into the complex issue of mental health, offering both perspective and support. Well, we fully agree with that statement. As you can hear directly from the lyrics and the overall context of the track, “Free” is a song that as lighthearted as it sounds, hits very deep.

If this is only the first official release, then you’re definitely discovering this artist at the best time possible. Listening to the track over and over, it’s filled with outstanding vocals, all the while staying true to its lyricism and being emotional. I was also quite a fan of the drumming on this track, it brought the whole thing together and was extremely enjoyable with everything else going on. I found myself singing along by the end, it is certainly a catchy song that went into all of our pop-centric and summer playlists!

Overall, it’s an instant indie pop classic, that at a cool 3 minutes, certainly doesn’t overstay its welcome. In fact, we’re really hoping Estelle drops an EP or full LP on us in the coming months. What more could you want than good music when the voice is that good?

If at this point in our review we haven’t convinced you to take a listen to “Free”, well then stop what you’re doing and get listening!
