Putting together a stunning performance on her debut EP, MELÓ’s Youthless has shot to the top to be one of our favorite listens of 2021. Read on for our full review of the record, as well as a background on the artist.

For this 20 year old London-based artist, she’s quickly become vulnerable within her performance and themes presented on EP, Youthless. For us, our introduction to MELÓ’s music was a nice even mix of her influences like Wolf Alice, Daniel Caesar, or Wallows, however she’s still managed to carve out a niche for herself that’s set a strong base for the future.

Coming in at 5 total tracks, spanning right around 15 minutes in length, MELÓ has centered this record around some seriously deep themes in her lyricism. Diving into mental health aspects and creating a safe space for all listeners, she’s effortlessly created beauty for anyone willing to listen. As strong as the message is though, we can’t discount the fact that some of the most impressive work on the album comes from her vocals that serve as the real constant.

It appears as though this is MELÓ’s first year as an artist officially releasing music, but from what we can tell, she’s already got that veteran sound about her. For a debut, sometimes it feels like artists flounder in the fact that they can’t pick a sound, but going forward we wouldn’t really want anything different. It’s a nice hybrid blend of indie pop with a slightly dark production, but in a way that feels optimistic and bright. Honestly, you’ll really just have to listen to get the full feeling.

With that being said, obviously we can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend you check out Youthless as soon as possible. Please do so by checking out the links below to listen and follow along for more.
