Melanie Rogers delivers striking vocals on single, "R.U.O.K."
On just her third overall single, Melanie Rogers is already reaching nearly unbeatable highs, especially on this latest track, “R.U.O.K.”. Please read along with us as we share our complete thoughts on the song, in addition to a background on the artist.
Making changes within her life that veered from all being within the context of church, Melanie Rogers started down the path of her own musical endeavours around 2019. Paving her own way and creating her own sound within the indie pop singer songwriter genre must have been difficult, however her output thus far has been nothing short of impressive. Her latest “R.U.O.K.” is the perfect representation of that.
After some personal life experiences, Melanie started to do things for herself and shape her own vision as an artist on her own accord. With three singles to her name so far, you can audibly hear the improvements from song to song. While each story certainly shares its own narrative within her life, as well as touching on contextual themes, this newest track may just be her best output so far.
At just three solid minutes in run time, she’s managed to move us emotionally as a new listener in so many ways. Speaking on the instrumentation side of things, the cold open of the piano on “R.U.O.K.” was the absolute perfect introduction to the overall vibe that the song gave off. As the song began to open up though and Melanie’s striking vocals entered the mix to tell her story, it honestly wasn’t too long before we were sold for life.
Featuring imagery-filled lyricism and a layered production that will keep you coming back for more, she’s hand crafted an isolated single here that nearly any music lover could listen to and find something to rejoice in. Whether it be those classic sounding and compelling vocals of hers or just listening to a story being played out in real time, there’s not a single “con” we can think of. If anything, it’s got us biting at the bit for whatever the next big release will be from this blossoming artist.
Considering this was our introduction to the artist, this single was the first of hers that we listened to. Checking out “Anchor” and “Fever” gave some necessary context as well to where her sound began, but we really enjoyed the direction it’s all heading. With that being said though, not only do we suggest a listen of her newest, but you may as well start from the beginning and let it run through.
