meadowhip transcends genre on stellar single, "Am I Broken"

Currently representing the music scene in Wollongong, Australia, meadowhip is a multi-talented artist who’s just delivered her fourth overall single, “Am I Broken”. Further improving from track to track, this newest endeavor is a fairly equal infusion of alternative pop and R&B that shines a spotlight directly on the artist’s dynamic vocal range. Paired with complex layering within the production that gives it a special pop, we’re beyond thrilled with the final product, and are overwhelmingly recommending everyone hit the play button as soon as possible.
With help on the production end from Chelsea Warner, the background of “Am I Broken” ultimately embodies the feeling and commentary of “bringing baggage to our relationships”. It takes a closer look at being the so-called problem in a serious relationship, but in our opinion and experience, everyone seems to have that thing that they bring no matter what. With that being said though, meadowhip still so eloquently manages to have created a borderline anthemic listening experience from start to finish in the process. Beyond the message, you’re hooked on her every word with those hypnotic vocals and we can only describe the song itself as being immersive as well.
As mentioned, this is only her fourth officially released single over the course of the last year, but each has been solidly building on what the previous did best. The production here is as crisp as ever, she’s never sounded better, and there’s a real inspired use of instrumentation that contributes to that layered and warm feeling “Am I Broken” holds. We’ve now had the opportunity to listen through 3 or 4 times, and with each replay, it’s given us the chance to explore so much more within the mix. A sincere recommendation would be to give this a spin with a nice pair of headphones as the subtleties are seemingly endless.
