Taking time out of her busy schedule to answer our questions about her career so far, McKenna Camille is clearly an artist on the rise with a ton to say! Learn everything you need to know about the artist below by checking out our latest Q&A.

WWAM: Your song "Bad One" addresses anxiety and bullying, drawing from your personal experiences. How does it feel to use your music as a platform to discuss such important issues, and what kind of response have you received from your listeners?

McKenna Camille: It's funny you mention "Bad One" since I just dropped a song called "B3tt3r Than Y0u '' which also talks about a mean girl I had to experience in high school. I love that my music reflects my real life experiences and emotions and it's fun for me to look back at songs I wrote when I was in high school or whenever and see how much I've grown as a person and how much I've grown in music. 

WWAM: On the lighter side, your summer hit "Strawberry Shortcake" showcases a fun and carefree vibe. How do you balance creating music that addresses serious themes with songs that are more playful and light-hearted?

McKenna Camille: I always say I write depressingly upbeat music and my music reflects my world view and world experience. I'm not always mad and I'm not always happy. I'm a human with a wide range of emotions so there really is no balancing that in my music because my music always reflects me. I just write what I feel. 

WWAM: You've performed all over the world, including at New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. What have been some of your most memorable performance experiences, and how do they compare to each other?

McKenna Camille: I couldn't possibly compare them. I'm too excited about the mere fact of being able to perform at these events. That being said, the most memorable experience I had was actually after I had performed in Paris fashion week and I walked out of the venue to find my dad holding a baguette for me. it doesn't get much better than that.

WWAM: Struggling with anxiety, OCD, and depression at a young age, you now use those experiences to fuel your music. What message do you hope to convey to others who may be going through similar struggles?

McKenna Camille: It's true that those things fuel my music, but so do my other life experiences and if I'm being honest, disconnecting more from the internet has been what has helped me the most. I know that is terribly cliche to say in 2024 but unfortunately it's true.

WWAM: How do you practice self-care and manage your mental health while balancing a demanding career in both music and acting?

McKenna Camille: It's not always easy but I would say I manage it well. I've been told countless times that I'm the most disciplined person and I think that helps a lot.

WWAM: Growing up on a lake and being an expert in water sports, how do these activities influence your creativity and provide balance in your life?

McKenna Camille: Skiing has definitely taught me to think outside of the box. It's constant speed and quick thinking and it's a great opportunity for my brain to focus on something else instead of music.

WWAM: With a successful career in both music and acting, what are some of your goals for the future? Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you’re particularly excited about?

McKenna Camille: I have a song coming out on August 16th called "Three Way" so be sure to follow me on Spotify to see when that comes out! I will be performing in NYFW again this fall as well and have a whole stream of songs coming out within the next year!

WWAM: What advice would you give to young aspiring artists who look up to you and want to follow in your footsteps?

McKenna Camille: If someone is saying you can't achieve something, that is exactly what you should be striving to achieve.
