Maxton Hunter previews atmospheric single "Halfway Home" ahead of new EP
Nearly a year since his last single release, Maxton Hunter has made his way into 2022 with something extraordinary, an all new track titled “Halfway Home”. We’re loving it! Do yourselves a favor and keep reading for a glowing review, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
In case you’ve been out of the loop, Maxton Hunter is a Los Angeles-based producer, singer, and songwriter, who’s using his vast musical influences to create something wholly original of his own. We got the opportunity to speak with him last year about his single “Honestly”, but are now thrilled that he’s made his return and served up something that’s taken the best elements of his past and fused them into something even greater. The song is titled “Halfway Home” and we’re urging everyone out there to give it a spin as soon as possible.
Somewhere between psychedelic pop and atmospheric indie rock, you’ll find Maxton Hunter carving out a niche of his own, all the while staying as dreamy as can be. Through inspired instrumentation, immersive production, and so much more, he’s giving listeners a taste of what’s to come with so much more music to be released later this year. In fact, this is the lead single off of his EP Windmills of Your Imagination, and we can confidently say now that he’s taking a step in the right direction. Our comparisons go directly to our positive thoughts on “Honestly”, but you can audibly hear the improvements in so many aspects over the past year of learning and fine tuning.
Having now listened through “Halfway Home” multiple times, it’s quickly become one of those songs that uncovers more motifs and subtleties the closer you pay attention. Honestly, our initial listen had us transfixed on just the overall laid back vibe that it gives off, but once you connect the dots within the lyricism you’ll realize just how much attention to detail went into every passing moment. As psych pop lovers and enthusiasts, this scratches that itch in an almost unexplainable way. The warmth that the song holds is exactly what we had hoped for in a follow up and it’s got us incredibly excited for the future tunes that are on their way.
While we patiently wait for more to be shared, please familiarize yourselves with Maxton’s music by clicking the links below to listen, follow along, and much more. Enjoy!
