Marvin's Revenge returns to music on blaring new single, "St. Alban"

Shared officially this morning on November 13th, 2020, Marvin’s Revenge have debuted their absolute stunner of a single, “St. Alban”. Read along with us as we break down our thoughts on the track, in addition to a background on the up and coming band as well.
Originally from the middle of nowhere in Derbyshire, Marvin’s Revenge now live together in Nottingham as students. Currently making music in the music scene of Nottingham is still a huge deal to their project as it is almost like a big family of brilliant venues and extremely talented artists. What you’re going to hear on this single (and the rest of their discography) is loud and aggressive alternative rock mixed with hints of indie. The band let us know though that they like to widen their range by adding various new sounds to their sets and recorded music, as well as trying to put a new twist or feeling in each song.
“St. Alban” is Marvin’s Revenge’s first release since 2019 and a massive celebration of their return to music after a tumultuous lockdown. This song is mixing a bit of their familiar sound of past releases with a more modern and refreshing kick. We have to say though, if you’re even remotely a fan of the music of Idles or Fontaines D.C., you are going to adore what you hear on this track.
As lovers of the genre they’re making music in, we do have to say that our standards are always a bit higher than usual. With that being said though, Marvin’s Revenge absolutely slayed their return to the scene with this beast of a track. Coming in at just a tad over three minutes in run time, it’s the perfect pump up song to get you in a good mood. Seeing as this review is being posted on a Friday our time, kicking off the weekend with multiple listens of “St. Alban” is exactly how we’re energizing ourselves today.
Although the band’s discography is somewhat limited so far, we think that’s a positive. If they’re able to churn out gold like this so early in their blossoming music career’s, what’s to stop them from being the next big rock act of the world? Seriously, the musicianship, production, and talent oozing out of just this one single was so pronounced, it’s as if they’ve been playing professionally for 20+ years. We don’t want to overhype or overstate the song for a let down, but we can confidently say that it rocks and it’s the next piece of music you should be listening to.
So if you’re looking for a high energy piece of music that features shredding guitar, big booming drums, abrasive yet delicate vocals, with a dose of rebellion, this one’s for you. Look no further because Marvin’s Revenge is the rock act you need to be listening to today. What are you waiting for? Get listening!
