Putting together another riveting collection of songs, Mark Brathwaite has made his return with an all new EP titled My Season. We’re loving it! Read on for our full review of the record, as well as a background on this emerging artist.

Consistently putting out beauty as an artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Mark Brathwaite has shared to the world another innovative take on his evolving sound called My Season. Passionately blending together the sweet sounds of R&B, Hip-Hop, and tons of soul, this might just be his most refined and focused project yet. Without a doubt, we highly recommend everyone out there give it a spin as soon as you can.

With producer credits ranging from French Montana to Kardinal Offishall, truly Mark Brathwaite is putting himself exactly where he needs to be in order to excel in his craft. Having now listened to My Season multiple times, we’ve quickly come to love the complexities that continue to show themselves the more we reflect on our experience. Exploring deep themes of triumph, betrayal, and unrequited love, he so delicately puts an emphasis on the songwriting while also keeping the tempo up to soothe the listener.

While it’s much different from his last project Overcomers, it’s exactly the direction we were hoping he’d pivot to. At just 6 songs, spanning 15 minutes in length, Mark immediately throws the listener into the atmospheric world he’s created and doesn’t let them go until the final moments on the cathartic closer, “Continue Ma Route”. Generally we would consider the record to be short, however for 15 glorious minutes you’re being introduced to the life that Mark lives and it feels like he’s letting you in on the most genuine version of himself.

The record touches on so many genres in the most seamless way, but the highlights had to have been the striking production and relentless vibe the album delivers. Our recommendation here would be to hit play on “Champion Flow” and let it run through cohesively as it was meant to be consumed. There’s no bad tracks whatsoever and it really feels like a full album listen at one quarter of the length. My Season is not to be missed!
