Majesty Palm explode with sound on second single, "Split"
On just their second overall single titled “Split”, these newcomers named Majesty Palm are already making a name for themselves with this rocker of a track. Please read on for our full review of the song, as well as a much needed background on the band.
Currently representing the music scene in Glasgow, Scotland, Majesty Palm are crafting together a rock-centric pop sound that features glimmers of synthesizers and a whole lot of attitude. Capitalizing off the success of their debut “Peace of Mind”, they’re certainly headed in the right direction with this wall of sound style that they’ve already mastered. To be completely honest, we haven’t been able to turn it off, and have a confident feeling everyone’s going to feel the same once you hit the play button.
Taking elements from the 80’s and fusing them together with a slightly futuristic pop sound, Majesty Palm have definitely carved out a niche for themselves so far. It’s hard not to compare them to similar sounding bands that go synth heavy or focus heavily on production elements, however this is tasteful in a way that’s separating them from the pack. Our initial reaction was just how nicely this would translate in a live setting considering the raw energy of the track is cranked up to a 10. We were actually just in Glasgow prior to this release, so it would’ve been nice to have caught a set! Here’s to hoping they make it to the states in the future with plenty of more songs to wow us with.
Having now listened to both “Split” and “Peace of Mind” back to back for comparison, they’re just different enough to showcase their talents going forward. What we mean is that they’re not pigeonholing themselves into one specific sound or style, rather highlighting what works best and centering the track around those facets. Whatever is next for Majesty Palm is obviously a mystery, but it’s a mystery that we can’t wait to see unfold because they’ve impressed us so much so far with the releases.
