Legitimately like nothing we’ve ever experienced before, we’ve quickly fallen in love with the unique sound of Madeleine Skye on her newest single, “Mercédès”. Keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this talented artist.

Breaking the mold of standard song structure and bridging the gap between musical theatre and multiple other genres, Madeleine Skye has more than impressed us with “Mercédès”. Leading with her dynamic vocals and imagery-filled lyricism, this song will simply have you on the edge of your seat for the duration of its runtime. You’ll encounter infinite twists and turns, but the pure artistry is what comes out on the final notes. Undoubtedly, we’re highly recommending everyone out there get into this immediately.

Now having studied film scoring at Berklee College of Music since 2019, Madeleine has taken her deep knowledge and managed to conduct and compose something entirely different than anything we’ve ever encountered. Through five and a half minutes of runtime, the listener embarks on consistent peaks and valleys on emotion and passion through these distinct narratives and characters that the artist is bringing to life. It seems to be a real consistency within the rest of the music and art that she’s creating, but considering this was our introduction to her music as a whole, it took us by surprise in the best way possible.

You’ll quickly make the realization that the suspense of it all comes from the intense instrumentation that highlights a riveting strings section. It’s certainly at the forefront of the mix, but one highlight we feel the need to mention is that with everything happening all at once, nothing ever really feels overbearing. Given the longer runtime than a standard song, “Mercédès” has time to breathe and evolve, rather than feeling rushed. The listener gets a moment to break down the messaging, yet also immerse themselves and attempt to analyze everything that’s coming through their headphones. For us, one listen wasn’t enough, which is why we had to come right back for a second as soon as our initial listen finished.

There’s honestly nothing we would change about this song in the slightest, so please go ahead and listen on your own by clicking the important links below. You can also follow along on Madeleine’s social media in order to keep up with everything else on the way. Enjoy!
