At just 18 years old, Maddox Ross is proving he can do it all as a singer, songwriter, actor, and beyond. Having been a part of a live band since the age of 5, music and everything surrounding it has been ingrained in this artist for so long, it was only a matter of time until he began to start creating originals of his own. Now with a quickly growing discography, “How A Cowboy Rolls” is next up in his release schedule and it’s maximized and capitalized on everything he’s done perfectly so far. Of course, we’ve got to recommend that everyone check it out immediately.
Recorded at Off The Row Studio in Nashville with help on the production from PT Houston, this is actually a collaboration effort with artists that we’ve covered in the past as well. Maddox is sharing writing credits with the ever talented Erin McCaffrey and Sarah Morey, but the song itself feels uniquely tailored to his specific cadence within the vocals. For the most part, this track is about as classic Nashville country as you could possibly get, but with a serious youthful feeling flowing from start to finish. At right around three and a half minutes in runtime, you’re immediately hit with a wave of optimism in the instrumentation, hopefulness through Maddox’s voice, and that country charm beaming from beginning to end.
For us, this also has that anthemic feeling about it that makes it built for a sing-a-long with a massive crowd. The chorus is so immensely catchy, we’ve got no doubts that you’ll find yourselves humming along by the end of it. We enjoyed it so much on our first go around that we had to come back for a second and third, purely based on the positive mood it put us in the first time.
