Sliding in right at the end of the year with another impassioned performance, Lucy Lane has crushed it on her third single, “Back To Me”. Do yourselves a favor and read on for our glowing review of the track, as well as an update on this emerging artist.

Though still very early on in her musical career, Lucy Lane has already made massive strides in nearly every facet of her music since we first reviewed her debut, “I’m Not Coming”. Since then, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experimentation, but the absolute attitude and richness that her latest “Back To Me” holds is exactly the type of sincerity and genuine feeling we were hoping for. Her vocals have stepped up a notch, you can feel the edge in the lyrics, and there’s even been a fun switch up within the instrumentation. We can say with certainty that now’s the time to hop on her bandwagon.

To give some background on “Back To Me”, Lucy has said that this song was written “in the aftermath of another failed relationship”, and to lend a helping hand, we’ve been there. In this scenario though, we truly feel that the overall essence and aura that this song holds a bright and generally optimistic feeling. Her influences come from major acts like The Killers and Fleetwood Mac, so that could definitely be a driving force, but undoubtedly she’s imparted so much of herself within this special mix. Sure, there’s plenty of standout instrumental moments like all of the guitar flourishments and even the synths, but it should probably go without saying that this is 100% a Lucy-led song, hinging on the expression in her vocal delivery.

Considering there’s just a few songs to her name so far, we also feel the need to give a shout out to her on the composition end, mainly meaning that she hasn’t created the same song twice yet. There’s lots of fun similarities between the songs, but right now we suppose you could call that her signature essence, continuing to find her ground as an artist and experimenting with what works best. If this happens to be your introduction to her music, it’s a wonderful jumping off point to explore more.
