LOWMEN shine bright on end of the year single, "Secret"
Sliding in right at the end of the year with an outstanding new track titled “Secret”, LOWMEN are gearing up for some much more headed into 2023. Read on for a closer look at this single, as well as a background on the band.
Leaving their final mark on 2022 with an absolute earworm titled “Secret”, this song is acting as the first of four upcoming releases from the ever talented LOWMEN. Currently based out of the United Kingdom, this band is effortlessly putting together what we’d consider to be a nice blend of indie-inspired rock with plenty of glimmers of pop spread throughout. This is a taste of what’s to come in the near future, but if you’re not familiar with their music, it’s a great jumping off point to explore more of their rapidly growing discography.
This year was truly their most successful yet in that they made their festival debut at BBC 6 Music Festival, along with the release of a killer EP called Countertransference. Setting the stage for so much more, they’re fresh off writing more immensely catchy songs like “Secret”, well on their way to a debut album coming soon. As for this latest effort, it comes in at slightly under four minutes in runtime, but quickly works to attract your attention with its bright instrumentation, relatable lyricism, and a nod to the best of the early 2000’s sound. On the background of it all, they’ve said “it’s dedicated to everyone with a secret to keep”, extrapolating on those themes within their vivid lyricism as well.
We’ve now taken the opportunity to listen to that aforementioned EP, and not to knock it all, but you can audibly hear improvements throughout it all in nearly every facet. LOWMEN are certainly coming into their own, pushing the levels of their comfort within experimentation, all the while focusing on a familiar yet semi nostalgic sound. There’s such an easygoing and laid back feeling about “Secret”, adding on to its prolific versatility and the overwhelming feeling to kick back and let the band jam. Serving as a precursor to much more music, sincerely our hype levels are at an all time high to see what gets shared next.
