Currently based on the Gold Coast of Australia, for those unfamiliar, Lovegrove is the project of Josh Lovegrove who has simply mastered his craft in the art of acoustic live looping. Giving us his second single of 2022 titled “Wildfire”, we’ve classified it as a slow burner that eventually ends up exploding in passion by the end of your initial listen. Working with Brisbane’s Jayden Reid to put the finishing touches on it all, the end result has turned out nothing short of spectacular. We’re recommending everyone out there listen to it immediately.
As a van lifer, nature enthusiast, and of course beyond talented musician, Josh has devoted himself to projecting his findings and sharing his discoveries to the world. If it’s not his stellar instrumental skills that impress you, it’ll surely be his dynamic vocals that fit so effortlessly into the overall mood and vibe of the song. Somehow, he manages to create this atmospheric soundscape through his guitar that only picks up as the song goes on. It’s something we mentioned, but for the most part “Wildfire” feels like this living breathing piece of art that starts out gradual and leads the listener to the promised land of greatness by the final notes.
We can only begin to imagine how lively and expressive his live shows are as well, considering he’s a live looper. If you’ve never experienced that on the grand stage, it’s really something interesting to witness, knowing the absolute precision in timing that one has to achieve in order for these musical worlds to truly come alive. Listening on a nice pair of headphones is one thing, but we sincerely hope one day we get to see it all go down in person. “Wildfire” is the ideal representation, but now having explored the rest of his music, an entire show of songs like these would be transcendent in an almost unexplainable way.
