Marking her return to music with an all new record Bend to the Light, Linda Debella has stuck the landing with this incredibly diverse release. Please keep reading for a closer look into the album, as well as a much needed background on the artist.

On only her second ever album, a follow up to 2015’s Jupiter Moon, Linda Debella has managed to incorporate a seemingly infinite amount of styles and genres on this eclectic record, Bend to the Light. Incorporating a ton of her influences that range from Prince to Eminem and beyond, there’s something inherently personal and vulnerable about this from start to finish. Undoubtedly though, it’s both a record and an artist we are highly recommending you dive into.

As a writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, the entirety of Bend to the Light is 100% Linda fulfilling a vision of exploration in her sound. On the background of it all, she’s claimed that it’s about “passionate love and social consciousness”, two major themes that consistently show themselves within her deep lyricism. Also inspired by the last two years of isolation and polarization through politics, truly this album is as impressive thematically as it is on the production and instrumentation side. We already know without a doubt we’re going to be diving back in soon enough just to experience both sides of the coin once again.

It should go without saying, but the focal point has to be Linda’s expressive vocals and the way that she uses them as another instrument within the mix. Her delivery is emphatic, empowering, and easy to understand when extrapolating the message. Specific standouts for us had to be “Come Clean”, “Burn After Reading”, and “Got It Bad”, but it’s no surprise we’re urging everyone to give this a front to back spin. There’s a cohesiveness about this in the flow where the tempo and vibe generally stays the same, giving that album feel, something we love so much. While we hope it’s not another seven years until we hear another record, you can’t rush art, so we’ll be making frequent returns to this shortly.
