Diving into complex themes surrounding the artist’s struggles with agoraphobia due to past relationship struggles, Lij has expertly blended together his massive strengths in songwriting, paired with an effortlessly catchy song. Blurring the lines of all genres, but mainly being labeled as “hyperpunk”, it’s a great modern take on the nostalgic emo punk sounds of the 2000’s. Truly though, we can’t wait for everyone to get their ears on it.
Paired with a visualizer that’s linked below, the entire release surrounding “CANNONBALL” has been a legitimate masterclass in exactly what to do when rolling out something like this that is so personal. You can so purely feel not only in this song, but in the entirety of Lij’s music, but making music is a way to cope with the struggles of life. The immense amount of passion and love that came through here, especially within the vocal delivery, is a total testament that Lij is doing exactly what he was born to do, make captivating music.
