Connecticut’s own, Lexi Mariah, is back with the song of the summer, “Sourpatch”. We loved what we heard, so read on for an in-depth review into the single, as well as a background on the artist and the future.

Before we get to the music, we wanted to give you a background on Lexi Mariah, just so you’re a bit more familiar with her from here on out. At just 21 years old, American pop artist Lexi Mariah found her love for music early on in her childhood. It being simply a hobby at first, she acquired skills on the piano, ukulele, guitar, bass and took as many music classes as she could throughout her years in school. At 14, she decided this was the career path she wanted to take full time, and at this point it’s been paying off quite nicely!

Confining her emotions into her music as a personal diary, this bedroom pop artist took her songs to the stage. Lexi’s music is an instant indicator of her personality, sharing distinctive lyrics that take you on a journey through her struggles of past losses and how she has learned to cope. “Sourpatch” is the first single that Mariah has released as of 2020, but we can only hope there’s more on the way. Citing her influences as Cher Lloyd and Taylor Swift, we instantly saw the comparison as soon as we finished our first listen with the song.

The song itself though is a straightforward pop anthem that we instantly envisioned ourselves listening to while cruising down the highway with the top down. It invokes a feeling of summer, carefree lifestyles, and the urge to hang by the pool. It instantly went on all of our summer and mood playlists. The instrumentation and vocals are top notch, and the song is just under 3 minutes, which means it’s perfect for repeat playing. We definitely found ourselves dancing and bobbing our head during the first listen and many times after it. We’re hooked! We truly think you’ll enjoy what you hear as well, so with that being said, stop reading and start listening!
