Born in St. Louis, Missouri yet currently living in San Diego, California, Killian has been musically involved since the young age of five years old when he started singing. Growing up though, he quickly found his local church where he continued to hone his craft. While they all might not be heard within the album, he cites his influences as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Prelsey, The Beach Boys, Justin Timberlake, and so many more influential names.

While his earlier discography features more of an electronic sound to it, Spiked Arnold Palmers took a slight shift in sound to where it’s a lot more vocal focused with less of an emphasis on the electronic side. That’s not to say this is a bad thing, all artists should experiment within their sound and take risks as to what they’re comfortable with.

Coming in at a track length of 11, at a runtime of 37 minutes, the album is seriously so well put together. Not only is the standout of the record Killian’s impressive vocal delivery, but the lyricism and themes in which he sings about are also serious as well. All throughout, we hear mentions of living a life in Los Angeles, which sounds like it could potentially be a dream of the artists. The whole record is self aware, in the sense that Killian is speaking from the heart about his problems. It’s almost as if the album doubles as a real life diary submission, but with the high quality production of a well put together piece of art.

While we thoroughly enjoyed the record from start to finish, we definitely had our favorite tracks that stood out! Specifically, the album opener “Missouri”, “Show Me State”, and “Prayer” were the ones that jumped out to us the most. That’s not to say the rest of the album fell flat, but like anything you listen to, you’ll always have your favorites. All songs varied slightly within sound and production, but also the instrumentation was diverse enough to show that Killian likes to change it up here and there.

With all this being said, we are highly recommending and encouraging you to take a listen! For all things Killian Hough, to listen to Spiked Arnold Palmers, and to keep up with all future releases and information, please check out the following links below.
