Officially released this morning on October 30th, 2020, Kill ‘Em Charlie have put forth their incredible debut EP, I Hope This Works for You ('Cause it Does for Me). We loved it! Read along with us for our thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the band as well.

For those who may be unaware, Kill 'Em Charlie' are a 5 piece indie rock band from Tipperary in Ireland. One of the tracks on the record, “Victoria Avenue” is a to-the-point, punchy number which encapsulates a lot of the band's influences in under three minutes. The band's ethos is "if we think it we can write it". Each song on the upcoming EP shows a different side of the bands personality as they want to get across how versatile they are with their sound and song writing attitude. 

The guys, like many other bands, artists and groups, have been restricted in what they can achieve due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. Due to this situation, a listen, a follow and a few nice words can go a long way for artists who are left without live gigs and a means to record content for their followers. It is times like these that music lovers need to stick together so from Eoghan, Patrick, Alex, George and Damon, the lads would really appreciate it if you could tell them what you think of their music.

As reviews come out for this record, we hope we’re one of the first to say how much we truly loved this EP. In all seriousness, on just an EP we went from not being overly familiar with the band’s past discography, to becoming lifelong fans of whatever they come out with next. From ripping basslines, shredding guitars, and an impeccable vocal delivery throughout its runtime, this EP is definitely the record you need to be checking out to kick off your weekend.

We don’t want to give away too much on specific singles, but let’s just say that the opener sets the tone for the entire record. Instantly, you’re throwing into the midst of an original indie rock album that doesn’t repeat the past in terms of the genre. It’s a breath of fresh air into their life experiences through the vivid lyricism, layered on top of an impressive instrumentation that keeps you guessing from start to finish.

While the record is only 5 tracks in length, it certainly packs a punch. It’s a dose of rock and roll that we were definitely missing in our life. Like mentioned before, it’s always best to connect with the band that makes the music that makes you happy. So when you listen and ultimately enjoy, make sure to follow along with the band’s future endeavours. Reach out as well and tell them how much you enjoyed it!
