Cornwall born singer and songwriter, Keegan Larose, took to the stage in his early teenage years and could be seen regularly at bars, cafes and pubs performing with various groups and under his own name unaccompanied. Initially, the artist honed his skills as a musician and songwriter studying applied music at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON and engulfed himself in the rich arts communities of southern Ontario.

What you’ll hear on Keegan Larose is a blend of storytelling styles under the genre of folk music with adult alternative, pop and rock,  all the while delivering a dynamic performance that engages his audience, leaving them with musical earworms that linger. This debut album features carefully crafted songs with themes of loss, finding purpose and learning to enjoy the little things in life every day. This five track EP is available on CD and for digital download and streaming (all links provided below).

Onto the music, what a beautiful and expertly crafted record Keegan has crafted here. Coming in at 5 tracks, spanning 20 minutes, it’s the perfect burst of music for when you don’t want to commit to a full length. The themes, styles, and overall folk style that is featured throughout is a breath of fresh air within the overarching folk genre.

It would be way too difficult to pick a favorite song from the record, as they all had their own highlights. We will say though, the opener “Forks” was a fantastic introduction into the universe that Keegan created. It takes all the best parts of folk music that we love and implements them over the beautiful layer that are Keegan’s smooth vocals. While the instrumentation on the record is diverse, there’s just something about his delivery that is so infectious and ties all the music together. While an instrumental of the same songs would be nice, we’re adamant that the vocal delivery is what’s putting this over the top for us.

At this point, we truly hope you’ll take the time out of your days and listen, we promise you won’t regret it. For all things Keegan Larose, to listen to the EP, and to keep up with all future releases and information, please check out the following links below.
